Ensuring Quality in Online Education at UF
As part of the Board of Governors 2025 Strategic Plan for Online Education, the State University System of Florida (SUS) identified strengthening the quality and reputation of each university’s online academic programs as a key priority. The plan outlines an expectation that all online courses be evaluated against Florida Standards for Quality (SUS, 2022, p. 14). UF—along with other SUS institutions—has made significant progress toward this benchmark and continues to advance this work as part of a multi-year quality enhancement effort. The expectation remains that all online courses undergo review every 3–5 years to ensure they meet established quality standards, and institutions must demonstrate ongoing, measurable progress toward full alignment.
